Six inches of rain in a few hours in Fort Myers

Fort Myers FloodVery wet weather continues tonight and again tomorrow across Southwest Florida. I should note right up front that it won’t be raining ALL night and ALL day tomorrow, but we will definitely track passing downpours and storms for a few more days. The weather pattern continues to deliver plenty of tropical moisture to the area. Winds at the surface and aloft are coming right out of the south and the computer forecast models show more of the same tomorrow … and possibly Wednesday as well! So, plan on dodging more rain this week and remember to travel slowly along and near low-lying areas. Flooded roads and plenty of standing water will be around the area. In addition to rainy periods, there could also be passing thunderstorms this evening and tomorrow.

Temperatures will be held back to the 80′s for the next few days. The forecast high tomorrow is 85 to 88 degrees. Lows will be in the 70′s each evening.

Looking ahead, the wet pattern will change a bit by the end of the week. It looks like we will go back to our typically quiet mornings with scattered afternoon thunderstorms by Friday. The upcoming holiday weekend should be hot and humid with only isolated afternoon storms.
